The American University of Malta's hysterical response and wild accusations of "racism", "racial discrimination" and "hatred" against its owner are entirely without basis, Kevin Cassar has said.

Kevin Cassar has responded to a press statement issued by the American University of Malta (AUM). The AUM had accused Kevin Cassar of racism against its main investor, saying that articles which the opinionist has written are riddled with factual inaccuracies and are only intended to "harm the reputation of the institution."

Cassar has issued a right of reply in response.

"Further to today's article in your paper https://www.independent.com.mt/articles/2023-01-12/local-news/AUM-accuses-opinionist-Kevin-Cassar-of-racism-in-articles-intended-to-harm-its-reputation-6736248804 I would like to rebut the serious allegations made by AUM as follows," Cassar said.

"1. The contents of my article about the American University of Malta referred to in your article are based on an external audit performed at the American University of Malta in April 2022. "2. AUM's hysterical response and wild accusations of 'racism', 'racial discrimination' and 'hatred' against its owner are entirely without basis. The "race" of the owner is completely irrelevant. What is relevant is that AUM was meant to recruit thousands of students but when the external audit was conducted in 2022 only had 60 active students."

"3. AUM is blaming my article published in 2023 for its failure to recruit any significant number of students between 2018 and 2022. No comment necessary."

"4. AUM has been given land at Smart City despite its dismal failure over a number of years," Cassar said.
