160 e-scooters confiscated over a few weeks - TM Enforcement Manager

Friday, 3 February 2023, 13:25 Last update: about 2 years ago

A total of 160 e scooters have been confiscated over a few weeks, Transport Malta Enforcement Manager Patrick Pollacco said.

As from January 2023, Transport Malta was given the authority via a legal notice to start carrying out enforcement on the use of e-scooters. This affects both commercial operators and also private persons.

Pollacco said that, through a newly set operations response unit, which operates all day and night, these scooters have been confiscated as they were not conforming with the law.

Additionally the owners, apart from having their e scooters confiscated, have received a fine. "These results could only have been achieved thanks to the enforcement bodies that are always present in the streets" he said.
