Government is continuing its investments in Gozo, where two projects are currently being implemented, a Department of Information statement said.

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited two projects which are undergoing in Gozo which will lead to a better quality of life for families.

One of the investments is the extensive beautification project of the Nadur primary school. With an investment of €6 million which is being co-finances by European funds, the project is expected to be completed this year.

The primary school has a population of around 200 students and around 30 educators. Abela said that the country’s children should have the best education in a modern, accessible, and safe educational environment.

Thus, government is also working on a project for a more modern educational space. New services to be installed are light, water and drainage services, CCTV, internet connection and fire safety services.

The project will better the appearance of the school from the inside and outside, as well as the redesign of the open and recreational spaces. Government will also create new spaces for learning extracurricular subjects, including dance studio, music room, theatre studio, and art classes.

The project will also increase accessibility in the building with the installation of a new lift. Education Minister Clifton Grima, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri and Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett were also present during the visit.

Abela also visited the Aquatic and Sports Centre project, which will be a first sports complex in Gozo.

The project, which has reached an advanced stafe, involves the construction of an Olympic sized swimming pool, and new facilities for gymnastics, basketball and others where indoor sports can be played.

The sports centre will also be equipped with top level facilities for everyone who makes use of it, including first aid rooms. Government expects that the sports complex will also lead to more economic growth in Gozo, as it will create new economic niches by attracting athletes and foreign professional groups towards Gozo.
