The Nationalist Party this morning requested the Auditor General to investigate deals reached by the government with Sadeen Education Investment Limited, which runs the American University of Malta.
The deal in question is the handing over of 30,000 square metres of land at a price of €0.47 for each metre squared, for a perpetual emphyteusis.
In a statement, the PN said Sadeen had failed in reaching the targets that were set for the AUM.
Last year, the government had submitted the contract before the National Audit Office Accounts Committee, with the two Opposition members voting against it while the three government members had voted in favour.
The PN said it had voted against the concession in Parliament.
The request was filed by Darren Carabott, Public Accounts Committee chairman, and the two PN members on PAC, David Agius and Graham Bencini.
