€250 million had been paid in taxes by foreign workers in 2021, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana said on Tuesday.
Caruana was answering a parliamentary question by PN MP Ryan Callus.
Callus asked for the total amount of taxes paid by foreigners over the past ten years, however in his answer the minister did not include figures for the year 2022.
In 2012, foreigners paid around €47 million in taxes, in 2013 around €54 million, in 2014 around €69 million, in 2015 around €83 million, in 2016 around €112 million, in 2017 around €130 million , in 2018 around €162 million, in 2019 around €193 million and in 2020 around €216 million.
The minister explained that the amounts mentioned included taxation on financial perks.
