Malta won, justice won and the truth came out, said PN MP Adrian Delia following a court judgment annulling of the Stweard Healthcare hospital deals on Friday.
Visibly emotional, Delia said that the fight had lasted for five years but that however “we believed that in the face of corruption you can never stop fighting and you can never give up”.
“This is our Malta! This is the Malta we want,” he told journalists as soon as he came out of court.
A court has nullifed the government’s €60 million deal to privatise three hospitals.
A court judgement delivered by Mr Justice Francesco Depasquale ordered that all property be returned to the government.
Delia, then Opposition Leader, had filed the court case in 2018 in a bid to cancel the 99-year emphyteutical concession agreement awarded to Vitals Global Healthcare.
Delia argued that the Vitals Global Healthcare, and their heirs in title Steward Healthcare, had not fulfilled the contractual obligations tied to the deal.
“Let's believe in the institutions and believe that a fight for what is right, if not today or tomorrow at the end you will surely win,” he said on Friday.
