Spartans celebrate diversity on Down’s Syndrome’s International Day

Tuesday, 21 March 2023, 15:39 Last update: about 2 years ago

Hamrun Spartans players paid a visit to St Joseph School in Blata l-Bajda this morning on the occasion of the International Day dedicated to Down’s Syndrome. The newly-crowned Champions met a number of children and educators, where they sought to raise awareness on this condition in the community.

This year, the theme selected for this awarness day is “With us Not for Us” and the Spartans sought to put these words in practice by being there among the schoolchildren, including those who live with this condition.

During this activity, coordinated by the Ħamrun Ħanin volunary organisation, the players distributed mascots to the kids and delivered a gift to a special fan of the team. As has become the tradition on this special remembrance, the Spartans wore different-coloured socks, highlighting the beauty of diversity while promoting a more inclusive society.
