A man died in Mgarr on Thursday afternoon, the police said.

The police said that the 69-year-old man was injured while using a mechanical plough in a field at Fomm ir-Rih, limits of Mgarr. The police had received the call for assistance at 3.15pm.

Civil protection officers and a medical team went on site and the man was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, but was certified as having lost his life sometime later.

Magistrate Rachel Montebello launched a magisterial inquiry and investigations are ongoing.
