1,167 carers in St Vincent de Paul, 761 of them are foreign workers

There are a total of 1,167 carers directly engaged with St Vincent de Paul, or through a private contractor, Active Ageing Minister Jo Etienne Abela revealed.

Answering a parliamentary question made by PN MP Ivan Bartolo, where he asked for the total number of Nursing Aides in the home, as well as for how many of them are Maltese or of foreign nationality.

Abela said that there are currently 406 Maltese carers for the home, and 761 who are of foreign nationality.

Asked another parliamentary question by Bartolo on the total number of elderly people living in private elderly homes, Abela said that there are 4,321 elderly individuals residing in private elderly homes. 633 of these individuals reside in homes which are partially private, and part government-run.
