The Home Affairs, Security, Reforms, and Equality Minister Byron Camilleri tabled a document in Parliament on Tuesday showing that there were 1,193 cases of theft from residences from the beginning of 2021 up until March 2023.
He was responding to a question put forth by PN MP Graziella Galea, who asked the minister to present the information regarding thefts, month by month.
Camilleri clarified that "the figures in the system include all types of residences, including those rented, as well as residences used as homes for the elderly."
In 2021, there were a total of 573 cases of theft from occupied and unoccupied residences, while for 2022 and 2023 the cases amounted to 503 and 117, respectively.
