The Busker encourages people to enter Eurovision, ‘no reason that the country should pull out’

The band The Busker has encouraged people to continue to enter the Eurovision Song Contest each year, saying that there is no reason for the country to consider pulling out of the contest.

Despite their early exit, after the band failed to qualify for the finals, ending their experience at the first semi-finals in Liverpool, David "Dav.Jr" Meilak, Jean Paul Borg and Sean Meachen said that participating was a great experience.

The band performed their song Dance (Our Own Party) in the contest's first semi-final, with 14 other participants, including favourites Sweden and Finland.

They said that the result was disappointing, in comments to the Eurovision Song Malta Facebook page, but nonetheless said it was a great experience that they would not have traded with anything.

The band also said that they were not disheartened, and filled with courage from the constant support pouring in from Maltese fans.

"We know how, every year, there are people who say it is useless participating. Remove that mentality from your minds. We have started with 1,200 followers on Instagram, and now we have reached 14,000. This was an opportunity for people to at least get to know who we are," Meilak said.

They appealed for whoever wants to enter next year to do so with their hearts and souls.

The band thanked everyone for their votes, and said that despite the unfavourable position they were in, they did not give up as they remembered where they came from.

"We made the country proud and thank you for the constant support and courage we've been given," the band said.
