President George Vella took part in a ceremony, laying wreaths at the foot of the Sette Giugno 1919 monument in Valletta.
The Sette Giugno riots remain one of the most significant events in Maltese history. Four people (Manwel Attard, Karmnu Abela, Guze Bajada and Wenzu Dyer) were killed that day when British soldiers opened fire on protestors who were protesting against the rising price of bread and for more power to be given to the Maltese.
