The cast of the popular reality television show Love Island Malta has been pictured with Prime Minister Robert Abela’s wife Lydia Abela and daughter on social media.

The pictures were taken at what seems to be Girgenti Palace, which is state-owned property and is the Prime Minister's official residence.

On Instagram, members of the cast shared a number of pictures of them with the Prime Minister’s wife and daughter smiling with their arms around one another, whilst they seemed to be enjoying lunch.

Author Mark Camilleri took to his blog to scrutinise the Prime Minister for allegedly inviting the cast over to have lunch with his wife and daughter.

“I can’t even make these things up as Robert Abela writes his own satire,” Camilleri said.

“I’m sure they think it’s all fun and games, and it’s true. It’s all fun and games with a little bit of abuse of power here and there and it’s all very harmless. But that’s the problem, that for Robert Abela governing the country is all fun and games and he is not a serious person.”

A spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister told MaltaToday that no public funds were spent on the activity.
