An elderly man and woman were injured when the car the man was driving crashed into two parked vehicles on Sunday, the police said.

The accident happened in Valley Road, Birkirkara, at 11.30am.

The man, aged 73 of Swieqi, lost control of the Toyota Vitz he was driving and crashed into a Ford Kuga and Mitsubishi Pajero which were parked on the side of the road.

He was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.

A 72-year-old woman who was with him in the car was slightly injured.
