Five people have been arrested following the conclusion of the magisterial inquiry into the death of Jean Paul Sofia, the police said Saturday.
The five include property developers Kurt Buhagiar and Matthew Schembri as well as architect Adriana Zammit and contractor Miromir Milosovic, Times of Malta reports. The police did not give the names of the people arrested.
They were arrested in Friday evening, hours after the Attorney General received a copy of the report compiled by Magistrate Marseann Farrugia in her magisterial inquiry. They are expected to be arraigned on Sunday afternoon.
The 20-year-old died when a building under construction collapsed in Kordin on 3 December.
On Friday, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that the magisterial inquiry had been concluded and that he had asked for a copy of the report from the AG, pledging to publish it in full.
He confirmed that a public inquiry will also be set up, a decision he announced last Monday days after the government voted against an Opposition motion calling for one.
