A man suffered grievous injuries after an accident involving fireworks on Monday night, police said in a statement.

The 32-year-old man, who lives in St Paul’s Bay, was in the area around Delimara at around 9:15pm on Monday when he stumbled across a firework which ignited and caused the man to suffer injuries to his hands and face.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by someone he was with at the time and was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police said that its investigations are ongoing.
