Gejtu Tanti, the former president of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM), has passed away.

He was 66.

Writing on Facebook, former UHM general secretary Gejtu Vella paid tribute to his former colleague, with whom he shared decades of work in the trade union sector.

Gaetano Tanti joined the public service in 1976 and was seconded to the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin (UĦM) in 1991.

He was appointed Secretary of the General Service Section in 1987 and was subsequently appointed Assistant Secretary General in 1991 and President of the Union in 1998.
