The 100-year anniversary of the Malta Police Force Band was celebrated in a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters on Monday.

A commemorative plaque was unveiled as part of the ceremony followed by a presentation of certificates and medals to the band members as well as those who supported the band. The Police Force said that the band has a history going back 100 years, making it possibly the first national band in local history.

The Police Force also launched a limited edition set of stamps to commemorate the anniversary.  The First Day Covers were done in collaboration with MaltaPost and are being sold for the price of €35. Further information can be found on the Malta Police Force's Facebook page.

Commissioner of Police Angelo Gafà said that this event was originally meant to be celebrated three years ago in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
