National team coach Michele Marcolini said that his side will have to suffer and give everything on Friday at Wembley Stadium when facing mighty England in its last game of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Michele Marcolini was addressing the press conference on the eve of the match against England, which will be the last match for Malta in the group. Malta has so far lost all seven matches in the group, with England already qualified and sure of winning this group.
Marcolini said that this is surely the most difficult match against one of the top nations in the world. He said that it is not difficult to prepare such matches, knowing however that we have to give our all.
Marcolini said that the players have to use this wonderful experience and treasure it. He said that we have to keep as much as possible possession of the ball and try not to give space to our opponents.
However Marcolini acknowledged that all this depends on the attitude of our opponents. England have scored a lot in their qualifiers so far at Wembley, two against Ukraine, three against Italy and seven against Macedonia.
Asked about Kemar Reid who recently gained Maltese citizenship and was immediately called for national duties, Marcoli said that Reid made an impressive start this season in the Premier League with Floriana, scoring a lot of goals, but most important of all, helping his side in the construction of the attack. He said that Kemar Reid has a very god possibility of making his debut for the Malta national team.
Marcolini concluded by saying that the players have to sweat till their last drop on the field to make the numerous Maltese following the team at Wembley proud.
Also present at the press conference was midfielder Teddy Teuma who said that he was looking forward for this game after missing the last match through suspension.
