Judicial Appointments Committee picks five new magistrates from 31 applications

The Judicial Appointments Committee has picked five new magistrates from 31 applications received following a call issued by the Justice Ministry.

Of the 31 applications, two were withdrawn and another was found to be ineligible.

The 28 eligible applications were considered by the committee, which presented its report to the President, who has to appoint them on the committee’s recommendation.

The five magistrates who will be appointed are

Antoine Agius Bonnici; Philip Galea Farrugia; Jean Paul Grech; Anne Marie Thake; and Nadia Helena Vella.

The other candidates who were found to have all requisitions to be appointed magistrates but did not make it to the final list are:

Mary Grace k/a Graziella Bezzina; Monica Borg Galea; Abigail Caruana Vella; Marouska Debono; Joseph Ellis; Maria Karlsson; Danielle Pace Grima; Elizabeth Quintano; Ilona Schembri and Claudio Zammit.
