Justice Minister Jonathan Attard said Opposition Leader Bernard Grech has reached unprecedented levels of irresponsibility as he is willing to commit perjury to mislead the courts in a strategic political game.
Addressing the media, Attard said the PN is “willing to do everything and use the institutions for political and populist purposes”.
2023 brought another year in which “we again saw an opposition that does not put the interest of our country first.” Attard said that “for them Malta never comes first” and that their main priority is themselves and their partisan interest.
We have not only seen it because their MEPs have worked against our country, but also because, as we are seeing here with partisan games and manoeuvres full of lies, they are even ready to threaten the international arbitration process going on outside our country,” Attard said.
The court case filed by Bernard Grech continued to reveal the Nationalist Party’s mask as it uses our country’s judicial institutions for purely populist and partisan purposes.” Three days ago, PN opened a court case against the State Advocate over the inaction in relation to the controversial hospitals deal.
Minister of Justice Jonathan Attard detailed how “the Government is already protecting the national interest in international arbitration processes”, contrasting the claims made by Bernard Grech’s comments when opening the aforementioned court case. He then stated that Grech “has reached [such] a degree of irresponsibility that he is even willing to take a false oath and try to strategically mislead the Court.”
PL MEP candidate Daniel Attard said that Grech’s behaviour is not of one trying to promote a national interest but a “Nationalist interest”.
“Beyond populism, we expect the Leader of the Opposition to now respond in the judicial proceedings that he started himself on incorrect, intentionally misleading, and fallacious premises.”
