The government that has never governed

What is synonymous with the PL governments from 2013 to date is that they have never governed - strange as this might sound, this is the real truth!

They never actually planned for the future and they never took decisive actions which were necessary for the common good of the people and the country.

All that they have done is management by crisis. When faced with a challenge or major issue, their interest is not to take the decisive actions required by the situation but to ensure that their actions do not negatively affect their voters.

They have liberally squandered the country’s finances and investments, in effect milking the cow to starvation without giving birth to younger cows which will eventually yield fresh milk! All that they have consistently done is to mismanage  every situation to the limit of abuse, thereby creating a record debt – definitely nothing  to boast about!

A massive amount of public money has been wasted in the unnecessary recruitment into state employment - costing the country millions of euros every year - of numerous incompetent, grossly overpaid, CEOs in a regiment of ‘persons of trust’, whose trust and loyalty is solely to the Labour Party and certainly not to the state.

The most important sectors in the country, those of health and education, which up to a few years ago, were our pride and in which the country had invested heavily, have been reduced to tatters.

Patients have had their dignity taken away and are being placed in basement corridors or even in a staff canteen, while at the same time served with inferior medicine and at times not even providing the required medicine, which are often unavailable, such that people have to turn to the Community Chest Fund for assistance.

As a result of lack of vision and mismanagement, polyclinics are overcrowded, doctors and nurses are exhausted and the whole health system is not coping with the demand.

At the same time, thousands of children have been deprived of the pleasure of attending modern, well equipped and staffed schools because this current bunch of useless politicians have robbed them of their future.

So lethargic is this PL government towards education that, during these past eleven years, they have not been capable of completing the new MCAST campus in Paola, a project that was commissioned by a PN government way back in 2011! What an incompetent lot are running the country!

Having sworn to eliminate poverty in the country, this socialist government has instead managed to increase poverty and, due to its incompetence, it can boast of a record number of soup kitchens that have been opened. And, by the way, these soupkitchens were opened and are financed and managed by the Church, voluntary institutions and volunteers and NOT by the state !

They promised a new middle class and instead they have annihilated the middle class, thereby causing a massive division between the rich and the poor. This country now has campaign managers being paid €130,000 annually and workers earning a meagre €10,000 annually. Social justice at its best!

They have been unbelievably uncreative at managing our economy and they have tried to dupe people by exploding the population to unsustainable levels. No carrying capacity studies were carried out and tourism related developments and housing units continue to be built without control.  So much development is taking place in certain areas such as in the Bay Street area, that even if it were possible for the narrow roads to be made pedestrian, so crowded will these roads be that people would find it difficult to walk in the streets comfortably !

The Minister for Tourism admitted that Malta cannot handle more than a certain amount of tourists annually. Yet we all know that due to the massive projects that are being completed, like Mercury towers, and others that are work in progress or at an advanced stage of planning, like DB, Villa Rosa, the Xuereb tower, Town Square, the towers in Gzira and who knows how many more, the amount of tourists that will be visiting Malta will be excessively more than the country can handle. But our spectator government prefers to sit on the fence than to attempt to govern!

The main institutions of the country have been systematically hijacked and made impotent just to protect the mighty. Law and order have been turned into a farce as enforcement is only used subjectively, resulting in morality disappearing into an abyss!

Never since Independence has Malta had a Prime Minister who was in any way implicated in any wrongdoing. As we now know, the former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has the honour and capability of not only claiming pole position in this regard but  also of being nominated as the most corrupt prime minister in the whole  world - an enviable achievement indeed!!! So grave were his wrongdoings and those of his closest allies that after only a few years in office he and his closest associates were forced to resign. These included top party star candidates like Chris Cardona, super Minister Konrad Mizzi and the star for all  Keith Schembri. But why, oh why, did this beautiful Island of ours have to experience all this filth and useless turmoil under Labour governments? Instead of using our resources to improve the wellbeing of our country and its residents, the persons of good will of the country have to waste its  energy and resources to combat these crooks.

Daphne Caruana Galizia’s last words were so appropriate, ‘there are crooks everywhere, wherever you look’!

The past decade is ample proof that the Labour Party is the champion of mal administration confirming that this is a government that has never governed and that has used its energy to shred Malta’s reputation.

The people have the power to stop this rot.

For the sake of our children and of future generations we must unite to kick this useless lot of politicians out. We must continue to work tirelessly to expose their incompetence and to focus on planning a beautiful and sustainable future for this beloved country of ours.

Our people deserve much better - together we can secure this target.
