A number of new appointments to parliamentary committees were confirmed on Monday.
Randolph De Battista has been confirmed as a member of the delegation of the Maltese Parliament in the Parliamentary Assembly in the Council of Europe (PACE).
This appointment means that he is replacing Minister for Transport Chris Bonett as a member of the delegation.
De Battista was co-opted as an MP by the Labour Party in March 2022, which Prime Minister Robert Abela had said at the time was part of a “regeneration” for the government.
Edward Zammit Lewis has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee, succeeding Glenn Bedingfield, who was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleanliness as part of the Cabinet reshuffle on January 6th.
Recently appointed PL Whip Naomi Cachia was also confirmed as a member of the House Business Committee, taking over from Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Andy Ellul, whom she also succeeded as government whip.
Eleanor Scerri meanwhile was confirmed as the new Clerk of the House, officially succeeding Raymond Scicluna, who retired during the last parliament session of 2023 after 44 years of service.
