A cyclist was seriously injured on Friday afternoon in an accident which is still unclear to the police.

The police said that at 1pm the 31-year-old man was found on the ground at the Mellieha by-pass by a farmer, who contacted emergency services.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The police are still trying to establish how the accident happened.
