Smooth Radio has announced it will launch Smooth 70s on DAB+ digital radio across Malta and Gozo on Saturday, 24 February.
The new station, which is currently running test transmissions online, joins sister stations Smooth Malta and Smooth Breeze on the national Smooth digital multiplex.
Smooth 70s will bring listeners the biggest feel-good 70s tunes from iconic artists including Elton John, Queen, ABBA, David Bowie, Blondie and Stevie Wonder.
Simon Lumsden, managing editor of Smooth, said: "We're incredibly excited to reveal yet another addition to the Smooth brand, Smooth 70s, launching on Saturday, 24 February! The playlist is pure 70s feel-good and with yet another new station joining the family, our listeners are in for a treat!
"I'm delighted that we are offering something new for listeners from the heart of Smooth's music mix. This station has been created to be a non-stop sanctuary for our listeners who love music from the 1970s."
The Broadcasting Authority approved the licence for Smooth 70s in December 2003, making it Malta's newest radio station.
Sergio D'Amico, managing director of DAB+ operator Digi B Networks, said: "We've noticed Smooth has enjoyed tremendous growth particularly recently, and at the same time, the main Smooth channel has evolved and grown.
"It's fantastic to welcome Smooth 70s to the DAB+ family. Listeners should autotune their DAB radio sets closer the launch date."
