The University of Malta has rejected any allegation of wrongdoing in the case of a PL MP who recently filed a judicial protest in court.

PL MP Katya De Giovanni filed a judicial protest against the University of Malta last week, claiming a decision by the Board of Promotions not to recommend her for the position of Associate Professor was 'discriminatory'.

In a statement responding to the allegation, the University of Malta said that Dr De Giovanni's application for promotion was treated in the same manner as that of other academics, "and in accordance with the applicable provisions of the relevant collective agreement."

"The University rejects any allegation of wrongdoing in the case of Dr De Giovanni, who has the right to all legal and statutory recourse available to her."

The University said it will be submitting a reply to the judicial protest in the near future.
