Between the 20th and 30th of April, the Malta International Fireworks Festival will return, the Tourism Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

“This cultural event is scheduled to illuminate the Maltese skies with pyrotechnic spectacles which fireworks factories from around Malta and Gozo are expected to contribute to,” the Ministry said.

This event will include pyrotechnic shows in Valletta, Marsaxlokk, Nadur, Mellieha, and will culminate on the last day of the month with a spectacle at the Grand Harbour.

These details were announced at a press conference by Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo and the CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority Carlo Micallef.

Bartolo remarked that the firework displays are an integral part of what makes us Maltese and Gozitans. "The Fireworks Festival is not only for tourists but also for Maltese and Gozitan families. It is an example of how we can promote the diversified product that our country offers," he said.

Micallef stated that the Authority promotes the Fireworks Festival across Europe and the rest of the world, so that specific groups of people are drawn to Malta for this festival. "This event helps Malta attract a different profile of tourists at a time when the summer season is less busy," he concluded.
