Victoria residents lament dangerous situation on road near shopping complex

Victoria residents have complained about forklift hazards and a dangerous situation on the road while delivery vehicles are regularly blocking 10th June 1887 Street.

Speaking to The Malta Independent, the residents said they have difficulty accessing their garages due to the forklifts, delivery trucks, metal cages, wooden pallets, and food products cluttering the public street.

The street in question is next to the Greens Supermarket, which forms part of the Duke complex.

The ramp used by residents to access their garages is also used by retail customers and hotel customers for the same area.

The vehicle ramp – which is “only wide enough for one vehicle” – uses a traffic light system to navigate incoming and outgoing vehicles, making access rather complicated.

The residents said that “these situations are very serious accidents waiting to happen”.

The Victoria Local Council, Transport Malta, the Fire Department, and OHSA have all been notified by the residents’ lawyer, but no action has yet been taken, despite the fact that Transport Malta offices are located a block away while the Gozo Regional Council’s offices are in the same street, this newsroom was told.
