An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from an outlet in Gzira early on Friday, the police said.
The armed robbery took place at 5am at the Strand.
A man armed with a knife entered the shop and demanded money from the cashier. He then made off with the cash.
The police have mounted a search for the aggressor.
Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
