A man died on Friday morning when he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into private residences in Swieqi, the police said.

The accident took place at 3am in Swieqi Road.

The police said the 56-year-old driver from Zebbug was driving a Toyota Vitz.

He was taken to hospital where he died some time later, the police said.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry
