Robert Aquilina has been appointed honorary president of the NGO Repubblika.

Aquilina had been the NGO’s president for three and a half  years until his resignation in early 2024.

Addressing a gathering, his successor Vicki Ann Cremona expressed her “appreciation of the big contribution Robert has given, and keeps giving to our organization and to our country”.

Before being appointed president, Aquilina also served as co-founder, General Secretary, and Vice-President. Robert Aquilina also coordinated the mass protests of 2019-2020.

Aside from this, the Executive Committee confirmed that Robert Aquilina will continue to represent Repubblika for the ‘challenge’ case against the Police Commissioner regarding Pilatus Bank, while also working on the case against the Attorney General on his inaction on the same bank.

Aqulina will also continue to represent the NGO on everything related to the Repubblika-initiated magisterial inquiry on the fraudulent sales of three public hospitals.
