Bernard Grech urges voters to vote PN, says ‘any vote to others would increase the gap'

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech urged voters to vote for all the Nationalist Party candidates for the MEP and Local Council elections, adding that a vote given to any other parties would be increasing the gap between the PN and the PL.

Grech said that Gozo was, is, and will remain a priority for the PN. He added that Gozitans are not second-class citizens, and so it is unacceptable that an old ferry which is rusting is being used for connectivity from Gozo to Malta.

"The Nationalist Party has always worked in favour of the connectivity to Gozo and it will always continue to do so," Grech said, adding that in the same way, it is just as unacceptable that the long-promised new general hospital in Gozo has not been built, due to the hospitals fraud.

"Now that an election is coming, the Health Minister has again promised that a new general hospital will be built in Gozo. Hopefully, it will finally be done, but remember that if this is done, it will be thanks to the Nationalist Party that brought back the hospitals," Grech said, adding that if it were up to Prime Minister Robert Abela and his Ministers, the Gozo hospital would still be in the hands of Steward and no new general hospital would be built.

Grech said that the PN councillors are committed so that every locality in Gozo retains its unique characteristics, and the PN's policy will continue to prioritize Gozo.

He said that European funds invested in Gozo must increase so that more quality jobs are created, along with initiatives taken in the social and educational sectors, and environmental projects carried out to further beautify the island and make it a magnet for tourism.

Grech mentioned the PN's general proposals it has for all local councils in Malta and Gozo, which include PN councillors working to ensure that 'carrying capacity' studies are conducted in their locality to determine the necessary infrastructural investment needed in the coming years.

Another proposal is that the Nationalist Party councillors will put pressure on the government to ensure that there are no uncoordinated road closures in the locality, or at the entrances and exits of the same locality.

The last proposal is that PN councillors will do everything possible to ensure cleanliness in their locality, especially to address the waste problem, taking all necessary measures to ensure that waste is collected in their locality, including additional collections even if the government tries to stop them from doing so.

Grech said that the PN has also taken note and adopted proposals made by farmers during the farmers protests held earlier this year, where the PN will do its utmost at EU level to help and invest in this sector.

Grech said that this upcoming election is to determine the country's best representation in Europe. He said that nobody can represent the country better than the PN, due to the great achievements made by PN MEPs in the last five years, namely PN MEP David Casa and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.

"The failure of the Labour Party in Europe over the past five years is evident because out of four MEPs, they only have one on the list for next Saturday," Grech said.

Grech said that from the latest independent survey, perhaps referring to the Times of Malta polls, it seemed clear that the third seat can only be obtained if those who have not yet decided to vote or have not yet decided which party to vote for, cast their vote for the Nationalist Party.

"The Nationalist Party is committed, as it has done in the last five years, to turn the third seat into more benefits for Maltese families," Grech said, appealing for undecided voters to cast their votes for PN candidates.

"To those who have decided to vote for the Nationalist Party, my appeal is - keep the preferences on the Nationalist Party candidates list because only there can we assure you, the third seat," Grech said, emphasizing that a vote cast anywhere else would increase the gap between the PN and PL, and urged voters not to experiment.

PN MP Alex Borg and PN MEP candidate Norma Camilleri also addressed the event.
