Labour launched an electoral manifesto for the upcoming 8 June elections, building on the 1000 pledges made before the last general election in 2022. These pledges, which garnered overwhelming support from Gozitan and Maltese citizens, are now being transformed into tangible achievements. Whether in the form of green public spaces, stable energy prices, higher pensions, or better income support, Labour is delivering on all fronts. This track record of success is a testament to our commitment and the trust the public has placed in us.

Our manifesto for the European elections focuses on the elements that distinguish our candidates and will guide their work if they receive the people's support. At the heart of this is our unwavering dedication to putting Malta first – because no one is bigger than the country and its people. We are committed to safeguarding our country’s interests, whether it’s protecting the neutrality clause in our constitution, ensuring the fiscal flexibility and space needed to remain competitive, or standing firm on our policy positions. We will not shy away from standing up for what they believe in. Unlike others who may use their positions for personal gain or career advancement, Labour members of the European Parliament will always prioritize the nation's best interests.

A second defining principle of our manifesto is our commitment to peace, as echoed in our constitution. In recent months, faced with the escalating situation in the Middle East and the unprovoked Russian aggression in Ukraine, our position has always been consistent and steadfast. Advocating for peace talks, ceasefires, and de-escalation has been synonymous with Labour representatives. This stance, perhaps in contrast with the opposition's views, underscores our belief in peaceful resolutions and diplomacy.

Our manifesto also highlights the importance of our island's competitiveness, connectivity, and trade. We recognize that these are vital for our nation's prosperity. Therefore, we will devote significant attention to these areas, ensuring that Malta remains a hub of activity and innovation. Climate change and environmental protection are also central to our agenda. We are dedicated to addressing these global challenges with local action, ensuring a sustainable future for our children.

Migration, the agricultural and fisheries sectors, and the use of EU funding are also key priorities. Our positions on these matters are firm and clear. We believe in a fair and humane approach to migration, supporting our agricultural and fisheries industries, and making effective use of EU funds to benefit our communities. Our vision for the future of the European Union is one of unity, sustainability, and prosperity for all member states.

Equality, human rights, and social values have always been at the core of Labour’s mission. Our track record in these areas is unparalleled. We have consistently topped lists and indices with reforms that other countries envy and aspire to replicate. These achievements reflect our deep commitment to creating a just and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

On 8 June, the choice is clear. Labour Members in the European Parliament will stand shoulder to shoulder with Robert Abela and his government, whether in Gozo, Malta, or Brussels, to deliver for our people and to continue building on the foundations we have laid thus far. We are not just looking to the future; we are actively shaping it with policies and initiatives that benefit all citizens.

Labour's manifesto is not just a list of promises; it is a comprehensive plan for continued progress and prosperity. It is about giving power to the Maltese people, ensuring their voices are heard, and their needs are met. On 8 June, Labour will give power to the people.

With your support, we can continue to build a brighter future for Malta, rooted in the principles of fairness, peace, and progress. Together, we will make our nation stronger and more resilient, ensuring a better quality of life for all. Join us in this journey, and let’s make history together.
