Zaren Bonnici, known as Tal-Ajkla, was one of the most colourful figures in the election campaign.
In a short comment to The Malta Independent, Bonnici said he is convinced that independent candidates did well this year, although he could not vouch for his own performance.
Bonnici said that this election is like the upcoming general elections in two and a half years’ time. He said that in the MEP debate, the people “understood him” and that they “kept to his word” when he told them not to vote for the Zejtun local council, which he didn’t do himself either.
He said the candidature of Arnold Cassola and other independent parties affected the two “big” parties.
