The beer fest being organised by Farsons at Ta’ Qali was the latest victim of power cuts - but, this time, Enemalta cannot be blamed for it, according to the agency.

It was a beer fest in the dark, attendees wrote on the social media.

Among them was Attard deputy mayor Alexander Mangion, who wrote that power went off twice during the evening.

But, on Facebook, Enemalta said that it cannot be blamed for the power cut this time.

The power cut at Ta' Qali, where the festival is taking place, had nothing to do with the distribution system, which has been the main reason for the spate of power cuts being experienced around Malta and Gozo.

It said that Enemalta sent its technicians and engineers to the area as soon as the power cut was reported and, after inspections and tests on the substation that supplies the Ta' Qali national park, it resulted that the distribution netowrk was working perfectly.

Other tests discovered that the organisers of the event had requested less power than they needed, with the result that it was not enough to meet the demand.

Enemalta said that that it is up to the organisers of such public events to identity how much energy they require.

Enemalta said that although the problem was not caused by its distribution network, its technical teams assisted the organisers to restore power.
