Following a collaboration agreement between Learning Works and the Malta Football Association, MFA, 21 individuals currently carrying out team manager duties with clubs playing in the Premier League, completed a nine-week course leading to the MQF Level 3 Award in Football Team Management run by Learning Works.
This programme provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to be a successful football team manager. It introduces participants to the key leadership and management theories and principles relevant to the global football industry exposing participants to teamwork and its importance as a building block in any organization. It focuses on the effective and efficient management of human capital and physical resources.
Participants discover the impact of culture on one's identity and that cultural universals make up every culture, helping participants engage and communicate better with others by understanding some basic differences in culture. Furthermore, participants will analyse key theories and concepts in communication, marketing, and sponsorship. Participants analyse the structure and function of the world of football examining the role of FIFA, UEFA, and the MFA in the development and organisation of the game of football. The programme also delves into the abundance of legal regulations and challenges, from doping to breaches of contracts. During the work-based learning placement, locally or internationally, participants build on the experience gained during the seminars/lectures and take a leadership role that reflects the competencies and skills gained during the whole course.
Certificates were presented to the successful participants during an event held at the Centenary Hall at Ta' Qali during which MFA president Bjorn Vassallo and Learning Works CEO, Charlo Bonnici delivered short speeches.
Another edition of this course will take place later this year.
