A man has been arrested in connection with a police investigation into the distribution of extremist material on the internet.

The man, aged 23 from Syria, was arrested in Marsa on Thursday morning, but not before he tried to evade the officers by going onto the roof of a residence and jumping from two storeys high.

He was immediately arrested and taken to the police lock-up for further questioning.

During the same operation, the police also apprehended nine other men from Syria who are in Malta illegally. They have been taken to a detention centre and will be returned to their country of origin.
