Eleven people were arrested by the police on Monday in an operation connected with human trafficking cases, the police said Tuesday.
The nine men and two women were arrested at the same time in Birkirkara, Gzira, St Paul’s Bay, Siggiewi, Fgura, Gudja, Paola, Zebbug and Senglea in an operation which involved police squads from the vulnerable victims unit and the financial crimes unit.
Eight of the men and one woman are Maltese, the other man and woman are from Romania, the police said.
A considerable amount of cash and several expensive items were lifted from the places where the raids were carried out.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
