Catania airport closed due to Mt Etna eruption

Flights to and from Catania have been cancelled or diverted to other airports due to volcanic eruption, Euronews has said.

According to the Malta International Airport's website, a KM Malta Airlines flight was one of the flights cancelled.

Euronews said that operations are estimated to resume at 6pm. The disruption is on one of the country's biggest public holidays, Ferragosto.
