Government will continue to provide incentives leading to the creation of innovative start-ups offering quality careers, particularly for young people and families with strong incomes.

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the offices of Maltese companies Scope Solutions Malta and Dedaub on Thursday, which operate from inside the Malta Life Sciences Park in San Ġwann and had started as start-ups.

Scope Solutions operates in the field of financial services, and Dedaub in Blockchain. Abela met with several workers and also spoke with the management of the two companies, where he was given an explanation of the work they carry out.

Abela, accompanied by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri, were given details about the journey that led to the creation of these companies and the realities they faced as they established themselves in their respective fields.

He was also informed that the two companies are planning to expand and grow their operations abroad.

"The experiences of different start-ups and eventually scale-ups show that the investment being made through support schemes by Malta Enterprise is important for more young people to embark on ambitious ideas that lead to the creation of innovative companies offering opportunities and careers to other young people too,” Abela said.

Abela emphasized being in favour of quality and not quantity, in areas that can enhance the added value of the Maltese economy.

He praised the entrepreneurial spirit of the two Maltese companies that were determined to create innovative operations and today provide quality careers to other workers.

Scope Solutions provides its services to companies in various sectors, including accounting, gaming, technical services, professional services, medicine, and many others.

It does this by providing daily operational services for companies, including accounting software, payroll, workforce management, and e-commerce.

These services are also tailored to the needs of companies through cloud software, making it possible for services to be accessed from the internet, thus increasing flexibility and accessibility.

This company is not only based in Malta but also in the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, the management of Scope Solutions decided to expand to Cyprus and employs more than 40 people today.

This company also benefited from assistance through Malta Enterprise schemes, primarily the Micro Invest scheme, Strengthening Market Entry, and Investment Aid Tax Credits.

The company Dedaub bases its work in the Blockchain field, where it is contracted to evaluate projects made on the blockchain, better known as smart contracts.

In their evaluation, among other things, an audit process is carried out to ensure the security of these contracts. In addition, Dedaub has also created several products and services that help increase the security of these types of smart contracts.

The company employs more than 25 people and is expected to expand its operations also in Athens, Greece.

Minister Silvio Schembri noted how companies and start-ups will have the opportunity to showcase their work during the Start-up Festival and Techxpo, which will be organised by the Ministry between 17 and 19 October at the MFCC, Ta’ Qali.

He said that even with practical workshops for start-up founders, there will be opportunities for innovative ideas on paper to become reality, including meetings with investors.
