Santa Lucija FC told to remove rental cars belonging to Christian Borg company from car park

Santa Lucija Football Club has been warned by SportMalta that it is breaching an agreement by allowing the car park to be used by Christian Borg's rental company, Sicily by Car, MaltaToday reported on Thursday.

The car park, which is located in Dawret it-Torri Street, is leased to the football club by SportMalta and is being used as a storage facility by Borg's company. Borg who faces charges of money laundering and fraud. Sicily by Car is an Italian rental car franchise which is run in Malta by Princess Holdings Ltd. Borg is the owner of Princess Holdings.

MaltaToday reported that SportMalta has ordered Santa Lucija FC to have the rental cars removed from the area.

In a statement, the Santa Lucija Local Council on Thursday said that it is contacting SportMalta to confirm if they have a contract with Santa Lucija FC which allowed the football club to commercialise the land. The local council added that it is confirming with the Planning Authority whether there were changes filed by SportMalta or the football club which would have allowed the land to be used for commercial storage of the rental cars.
