Though the PN welcomed the news of the modern and environmentally-friendly Msida Primary School being opened in time for the scholastic year, PN MP Justin Schembri pointed out that the project suffered delays and broke the budget.
The PN said that the government under Prime Minister Robert Abela, postponed the full completion of Msida Primary School by 6 years and went over the estimated-budget by over €10 million since it was announced in 2017. It added that these funds could have been invested in the education system.
Whilst the PN is satisfied that after 6 years, the children of Msida as well as their educators will start a new scholastic year in a new school, it appealed for the government to be more serious with immediate investments in various schools that need them in Malta, such as those in Ħal Qormi and Birkirkara.
The PN welcomed the positive news that the Msida Primary School is finally finished and will start receiving students and educators from this scholastic year, set to begin in a few weeks' time. It said that it is encouraging that the Msida Primary School is carbon neutral, has a public library, hall and a recreational space for attending children and insisted that this should be the practice for Maltese schools.
The PN said that its policy was always consistent with facts; such that it would open a new school every year. It said that it is committed to continue strengthening its policy, to build more modern schools equipped for today's world. However, it said that it is also committed to see a plan for the maintenance and renewal of Maltese schools to modernize them.
