Prime Minister Robert Abela met with Producer, director and actor Mel Gibson in Castille on Wednesday.

Abela took to Facebook yesterday to mention the meeting he had with Oscar-winner Mel Gibson at Castille. "Whilst he [Gibson] noticed how the film industry in Malta grew, he shared details on particular projects that he is interested to shoot in Malta," he said. Also, present at the meeting was Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech.

Mel Gibson is a major name in Hollywood. He is known for acting in and directing 'Braveheart', known for his acting roles in the original Mad Max and the 'Lethal Weapon' series.

Gibson also directed the wartime biopic 'Hacksaw Ridge' and 'The Passion of the Christ', filmed in Matera and Craco, Italy.
