A man died in a traffic accident at 7.45am on Saturday.

TVM news named the accident victim as Gildave Spiteri.

The accident occurred in Żejtun, on Triq il-President Anton Buttigieg. Preliminary investigations found that a 21-year-old man from Żabbar was driving a Peugeot 206 and lost control, crashing into a parapet wall of a residence.

A medical team was called and the man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. The man died shorly after.

Members of the Civil Protection Department had gone on site to assist.

Magistrate Anthony Agius Bonniċi is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
