The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra's Chamber Series returns for the new season, with the first concert taking place on Sunday, October 6th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana.
The concert will feature two monumental works that showcase the brilliance of Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms in blending the piano with other instruments. Beethoven's Quintet for Piano and Winds, Op. 16 reflects his early style while foreshadowing later innovations, and Brahms' Piano Quintet, Op. 34 is one of his most profound contributions to the chamber music repertoire, noted for its emotional depth and structural complexity. For this performance, MPO Resident Conductor Michael Laus will be at the piano, joined by John McDonough on oboe, clarinetist Godfrey Mifsud, Giacomo Cella on bassoon, Etienne Cutajar on horn, violinists Agnieska Kuźma and Stefan Calleja, Ester Garcia Salas on viola, and cellist Ákos Kertész.
