225,306 people own at least one vehicle, information tabled in Parliament reveals, and this number excludes any two-wheeled vehicles.

During Wednesday's parliamentary session, Transport Minister Chris Bonett revealed that there are 170,143 people across the Maltese islands who own just one vehicle. The emerging statistics from this parliamentary question exclude all two-wheeled vehicles, such as motorcycles.

While just over 170,000 persons own just a single vehicle in the country, nearly 40,000 (39,524) own two vehicles.

Furthermore, 10,188 people own three vehicles, 3,189 persons own four, and 1,111 own five vehicles. The total number of owners for these five incremental values total to 224,155.

There is at least one driver across the Maltese islands listed per statistical increment, i.e., owning one car, two cars, three cars, etc., up until the number rises to 26 vehicles owned.

Following this, two people are registered to owning 29 vehicles, one person is listed to own 37 vehicles, another has 38, and one individual owns 83 vehicles.

This parliamentary question was put forward by Nationalist Party MP Mark Anthony Sammut.
