Jean Karl Demajo elected as new MDTA president

Following the advanced announcement of John Salomone Reynaud's resignation, Jean Karl Demajo has been elected as the new president of the Malta Dental Technologists Association (MDTA). The election took place at the MDTA's Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the Voluntary Organisation Office in Birkirkara on Saturday 26 October.

The AGM began with the formal approval of the meeting agenda and previous minutes, setting the stage for a productive session addressing the year's developments and organizational goals. Key presentations included:

  • President's Report - A comprehensive overview of MDTA's activities over the past year, highlighting topics related to advancements in dental technology and its specializations.
  • Secretary's Address - Updates on the FEPPD activities and international collaborations.
  • Treasurer's Report - An in-depth financial review of MDTA's accounts and budget analysis from the past year.
  • Statute Amendment - Approval of a statutory amendment aimed at enhancing MDTA's commitment to public health and improving organizational outreach.

Following the presentations, elections were conducted for the upcoming two-year MDTA committee. The nominees received unanimous support, forming a team dedicated to advancing the profession and supporting members. The new MDTA Committee members are:

  • President: Jean Karl Demajo
  • Secretary: Pierre Zammit
  • Treasurer: Adrian Chetcuti
  • IT Officer & Public Relations Officer: Letizia Grech Muscat
  • Committee Members: James Buhagiar and Nicole Ellul
  • Sub-Committee Member: Chris Vella
  • Education Committee Support: John Salomone Reynaud and Jessica Grixti

During the meeting's final quarter, members engaged in open discussions on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives and various professional concerns, underscoring MDTA's commitment to supporting the ongoing education and professional growth of its members.

The AGM concluded with a reception for attendees, celebrating the association's achievements over the past year and setting a positive tone for the incoming committee's term.
