For the twelfth year, the Children’s Dreams campaign is returning to bring joy to children in need during the Christmas season, appealing to the Maltese community to help make the Christmas wishes of many vulnerable children a reality.
Based on the goal of providing personalized gifts to children under state care and those facing challenges at home, this campaign ensures that every child has the opportunity to experience the spirit of joy and love that Christmas brings. This year, the Children’s Dreams campaign is inviting community members to join hands with them and bring smiles to children’s faces by donating gifts chosen by the children themselves.
At the campaign’s launch, Remenda Grech, Director of the Directorate for Alternative Care, said, “By focusing on each child’s specific wish, the campaign offers a meaningful gift experience, providing not only a material item but also hope and love to those most in need.”
This initiative has grown every year; in 2023, around 1,500 gifts were donated by local businesses, organizations, and individuals. This year, there are around 1,400 wishes from children who face very challenging realities daily. The wishes range from toys to clothes, perfumes, books, and experiences like bowling and horse riding.
Alfred Grixti, CEO of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, noted that these children have needs and wishes throughout the year and emphasized the need for continuous support to provide these children with equal opportunities as others.
Anyone wishing to contribute to this campaign can choose to purchase a gift from the list available on the online platform or make a financial donation to help buy gifts that the children have requested.
The campaign will run until December 13, and those interested in contributing can visit the website www.childrendreams.org.
