Jurgen Degabriele came on as a substitute at the start of the second half and he was instrumental in giving life to the Malta side, opening the score after six minutes and forcing Liechtenstein goalkeeper to a majestic blunder four minutes later.

With these two early second half goals Malta brushed aside Liechtenstein's feeble resistance with our goalkeepers Henry Bonello and Rashed Al-Tumi never called in action.

The first half was rather dull even though Malta always had the upper hand but created few scoring opportunities. On the resumption however and especially after the two quick goals

Malta played some very good football with Beerman, Satariano and Degabriele in top form.

It was a good test for Davide Mazzotta who led the team to its second successive victory, the fifth form six encounters against

Liechtensten. This augurs well for Tuesday's important clash against Andorra, hoping that the same Andorra will give the Maltese some good news on Saturday when they host Moldova.

Mazzotta as expected experimented, even though the shape of the team remained the same. Pepe, Tabone and Jean Borg formed the back three with Beerman and Zammit Lonardelli on the flanks. Captain Guillaumier and Dunstan Vella were the midfielders with Buhagiar, Paul Mbong and Nwoko in attack.

Malta's first attempt inside the first minute with a Guillaumier freekick blocked by Buchel. But this was not an indication of what was to come, as the first half dragged on with practically no effort towards goal.

Some excitement to the small crowd present on 35 minutes when Trent Buhagiar nipped in a hesitant Liechtenstein rearguard but his effort was brilliantly blocked by Buchel.

At the start of the second half Malta's best move with Paul Mbong's close range shot saved by Buchel, and four minutes later Buchel again saved Buhagiar's long distance drive.

The goal was in the air as Malta took the lead when substitute Jurgen Degabriele, who had came in at the start of the second half, scored with a precise grounder.

Two minutes later Degabriele almost scored again when he was well served by Jean Borg, but his shot was saved by Buchel.

But from the resultant corner taken by Degabriele, goalkeeper Buchel practically punched the ball inside his own net.

Malta was now playing fluent football and was unlucky not to adda third when shots from Degabriele and Satariano were blocked off the goal line.
