Member of Parliament Darren Carabott has been elected Treasurer on the Executive Board of an international association of Public Accounts Committees (PACs), the Natiuonalist Party said Saturday.

This association - the Commonwealth Association for Public Accounts Committees (CAPAC) - which in the past days convened in Malta, coordinates parliamentary work related to investigations into public expenditure carried out by governments in around 60 different countries.

As a Partit Nazzjonalista MP, Darren Carabott serves as Chairperson of the Maltese Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts. Now, thanks to this role, following a contested election, he has been selected to serve as Treasurer of this global association, which brings together Public Accounts Committees from various countries worldwide.

In stark contrast to this Government, which has brought embarrassment to our nation on the international stage, PN MPs bring honour to our country on a global level, the PN said.

PN Leader Bernard Grech also wished Darren Carabott every success in the coming two years during which he will occupy this prestigious international position.
